Frank (who is called "Magic" by his friends) was strongly influenced by his father’s big record collection, which mainly consisted of Country and Rock'n'Roll records. During his childhood Frank developed his love to the fascinating blend of American music ... rockabilly! As his comrades focused on disco music during the eighties, he was still fond of his heroes Carl Perkins and Johnny Horton. He started to investigate the roots of the music he liked and so got into black blues music. Even if blues influences his guitar and harmonica playing, his voice suits well to rockabilly or hillbilly stuff.
Markus used to play guitar since he visited school. His guitar playing is a solid basis of the rhythmic sound of the Retro-Rockets. He is not only influenced by the 1950's Rock'n'Roll guitar heroes, but also by the spirit of the boogie-woogie piano legends of the time.
The two friends Markus and Frank found out that their musical roots perfectly fit together and started with the project "Magic and his Retro-Rockets". The aim was to perform handmade authentic 50's Rock'n'Roll blended with a wide variety of styles and genres. Fortunately they got to know Wolfgang and Will.
Wolfgang is the member of the band with the longest musical career. He has performed as a drummer with a lot of different bands, even back in those "good old days" when you could dance to Rock'n'Roll bands on every evening of the week. He brands the unique Retro-Rockets-Sound with his shuffling Rock’n’Roll drumming.
Last-but-not-least. What would a Rock’n’Roll band be without a double bass? The journey back in time is perfect with Will and his double bass. He really loves handmade music. He has been playing bluegrass, country, folk and even rock. Now he is a busy session man as a bass player. 
Magic and his Retro-Rockets started in the summer of 1999 in Berlin, Germany. It did not take too long to set up a repertoire, and more and more gigs came along. In 2000 the first album was recorded, got good critics, and sold well. Now we have our second CD out and hope it will sell as good as the first. 
The Retro-Rockets play at clubs with a sweaty rocking' atmosphere, they play at big events like open-air festivals, they also appeared on a local TV show, too. They are heavy busy bringing the "Good News of Rock'n'Roll" to the people!
